AEAUTO EV Charging Stations Enter Romania

9.5 million euro grant from the EU to build 242 charging stations for EVs in Romania from 2022 to 2025.The EU is financing this project through a 70 million euro grant, of which 9.5 million euro is allocated to Romania.Between June 2022 and June 2025, the EXPAND-E consortium is installing 2,100  EV chargers  aimed at light and heavy goods transport EVs in over 450 locations across 22 EU member states.Romania will install up to 222 high-power charging points of at least 150 kW, dedicated to light EVs, as well as 20 charging points with a minimum power capacity of 350 kW, intended for heavy transport EVs – trucks, buses and coaches.

 

The EXPAND-E project seeks to expand electric vehicle charging stations for EVs along the pan-European corridors, from the Baltic Sea to the Mediterranean Sea, as well as from the Black Sea to the Atlantic Ocean.Making use of the 150-350 kW infrastructure, the project also aims to fill in the supply gaps along the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) in Romania.

 

Romania exceeds 27,500 electric vehicles and 3,300 public EV chargers

The number of EVs registered in 2022 equals the total number of the last 10 years. The Dacia Spring had a market share of 55%, the volume of units registered by this model equaling the total number of electric vehicles registered in 2021. The best-selling fully electric car is Dacia Spring(55%) in Romania, followed by Tesla.

Infrastructure for charging electric vehicle in Romania

The number of charging locations in Romania continues to increase by about 300 units every year. In 2022, in Romania 1,350 charging stations were registered for electric cars, 58% were slow charging, 40% were fast charging and only 2% ultra-fast charging.
